01 Problem
Compressed air is one of the most expensive utilities in a plant, and leaks silently consume a large share of it. Leak surveys happen rarely, findings are reported in decibels instead of dollars, and repairs compete poorly for maintenance time because nobody prices the loss.
The cost is compressors running to feed holes in pipes.
02 Specification
This is the specification we are building toward. The status column shows what exists today.
- Continuous leak detection and localizationPLANNED
Leaks are detected and located continuously instead of during an annual walkaround.
PLANNED - Loss quantified in dollarsPLANNED
Every leak carries an estimated cost in dollars per month, computed from the plant’s own energy price.
PLANNED - Repair prioritization by paybackPLANNED
The repair list is ordered by payback, so maintenance time goes where the money is.
PLANNED - Compressor efficiency monitoringPLANNED
Compressor performance is monitored so degradation shows up as a number, not a feeling.
PLANNED - Cross-brand coveragePLANNED
The system works across compressor brands and control generations.
PLANNED - Survey and permanent modesPLANNED
The same system is designed to run as a portable survey kit or as a permanently installed monitor.
PLANNED - Trend reporting for energy managersPLANNED
Energy managers get trend reports fit for efficiency programs and audits.
PLANNED - Verification after repairPLANNED
Every repair is verified by measurement, so claimed savings are demonstrated savings.
PLANNED
Updated as capabilities ship. BUILT means working and validated; nothing gets that label early.

04 Engineering
Signal core
AirEconomy is built on the ALIA Signal Engine, applied to ultrasonic and pressure sensing. Ultrasonic arrays feed localization models designed to separate leak signatures from the acoustic chaos of a running plant, and pressure and compressor data feed the economic model that converts each leak into dollars per month at the plant’s own energy price.
Deployment modes
The same core runs in two modes: a portable survey kit for periodic walkdowns and a permanently installed monitor for continuous coverage. Both process on site, and findings rather than raw audio are what leave the sensors.
Integration surface
Compressor data is read across brands and control generations, and reports are shaped for the efficiency programs and audits energy managers already run.
05 Why this is hard
The genuine problem is direction finding and flow quantification in acoustically hostile plants. A running plant is full of ultrasonic sources that are not leaks, reflections that lie about direction, and leaks whose loss rate must be estimated without shutting the line down to measure it. The engineering work is localization that stays trustworthy in that environment and loss estimates that are honest about their own uncertainty.
06 Design constraints
- Losses priced in dollars, not decibels
- Works across compressor brands
- Survey and permanent modes share one core
- No production stop required to survey
- Every repair verified by measurement
07 Design partner program
Design partner program.
We are looking for a small number of design and pilot partners. A partner gets the problem solved for their operation first, direct influence on the specification above, and pilot pricing. In exchange we get reality: real constraints, real data, real operators. No external partner is engaged on this product yet.
