Company
Built to solve, not to sell a category.
01Why we exist
ALIA Labs was created around a simple observation: organizations frequently encounter important problems that sit between established products, departments and engineering disciplines.
Those problems are often ignored because they are too specialized for a software vendor, too technical for a conventional consultancy, or too small to justify building an internal team.
ALIA Labs exists for that gap.
02Thesis
We are building an engineering company around the work traditional categories leave behind.
Increasingly, the hardest operational problems do not belong entirely to software, manufacturing, procurement, data, infrastructure or consulting. They exist between them. ALIA Labs was built on the premise that the organization solving the problem should be able to cross those boundaries too.
03Why ALIA
Why organizations bring difficult work to ALIA.
- We can cross the boundary. Most vendors stop where their specialty ends. We combine software, systems engineering, automation, data, sourcing, physical equipment, optimization and specialized partners under one requirement.
- We are vendor-neutral.If buying is better than building, we recommend buying. If integrating is better than replacing, we integrate. If a supplier already solves the problem, we tell you.
- We de-risk before we scale. The expensive assumption gets tested first. We would rather kill a bad project in week one than discover the flaw after six months of implementation.
- We work to acceptance criteria. Before serious engineering begins, we define what success has to look like and how it will be measured.
- We own the interfaces.Projects often fail between the software team, the equipment vendor, the operator, the integrator and the supplier. Those interfaces are part of the engineering problem.
- We finish where operations begin.A prototype that only works in a presentation is not a delivered system.
04Principles
Five rules we hold ourselves to.
- 01Evidence before expansionWe prove the assumptions that matter before committing major resources to them. Small experiments come first, and spending grows only as the evidence does.
- 02Build versus buy is an economic decisionIf an existing product already solves the problem well, we recommend buying it and we say so, even when that ends the engagement early.
- 03No technology requirementA software problem does not need AI, and a physical problem does not need custom hardware when a supplier already makes the right component. The requirement decides the technology.
- 04Acceptance criteria matterA project ends with measurable evidence that the agreed criteria were met. A presentation deck is not evidence.
- 05Own the resultArchitecture, implementation and operational consequences are connected, so we treat them as one responsibility rather than handing off between them.
05How we are structured
ALIA Labs operates as a senior engineering core with a partner network of manufacturers, engineering firms, laboratories and integrators assembled around each project. Delivery is global and structured around the requirement, not around where a desk happens to be.
The long-term goal is simple: become the organization companies call when the requirement matters more than the category.
If your problem sits in that gap, send it.
